What are crowded teeth?
Crowding is when there isn’t enough space available in your jaw to accommodate the size of the teeth. The teeth can twist, or overlap and even get worse with time. Crowded teeth are a common problem that can be associated with periodontal problems and an increase in tooth decay, because it’s hard to reach areas when brushing and flossing.
What are spaced teeth?
Spaced teeth describe when your jaw has an abundance of space for the teeth, resulting in spaces between the teeth. In other words, there’s too much space between your teeth. This can be caused by narrow teeth, missing teeth or impacted teeth. This spacing can cause issues with the gum tissue around your teeth.
What is deep bite or overbite?
A deep bite is also called an overbite. It happens when there is excessive vertical overlapping of the incisor teeth, in other words, when your upper front teeth overlap with the lower front teeth. Some of the issues associated with having a deep bite includes excessive visible gum tissue, lip protrusion, biting the roof of the mouth and even wear on your incisors.
What is underbite?
An underbite, also known as a Class III malocclusion, is when the lower jaw and teeth project ahead of the upper jaw. In other words, your lower front teeth are in front of your upper teeth when your mouth is closed. This is caused by either a larger lower jaw or a small upper jaw. It can cause difficulty speaking and even chewing food. An underbite can also result in your teeth wearing down more than they should.
